Background

Beeston Youth and Community Centre is a registered charity regulated by a Scheme (governing document) of the Charity Commission.

The land was included in a will for use by the local youth and community and was conveyed to the original trustees by a conveyance and trust deed from 1^st November 1949. Originally ex-Army sheds were used to house community groups and for young people to meet, hence The Shed name for the Young People’s Centre. The current building was built in the 1960s, opening in 1965.

Nottinghamshire County Council took over as trustees from Broxtowe Borough Council who in turn took over from Beeston and Stapleford Urban District Council. Nottinghamshire County Council as trustees ensure Health & Safety and accounting compliance is met.

Management committee

Three appointed officers have delegated responsibility for the day to day coordination and management of Beeston Youth and Community Centre. Regular meetings are held by the appointed officers, along with County Council Elected Members for Beeston North and Beeston South and Attenborough.

Annual return reports with audited account are completed and submitted to the Charity Commission each year in line with Charity guidance.

User group meeting

A formal users group meeting has also been established, which meet bi-annually. This provides an opportunity for user groups to share their ideas and have them formally fed back to the management committee. This forum provides an opportunity for user group representatives to be a part of the decision-making processes concerning Beeston Youth and Community Centre Charity.
